The third unit was selected based on the presence
of a unique stone disc lying on the ground not far
from Unit 1. The disc, measuring c. 78 cm
in diameter, had a knob or protrusion in the centre
on either side. An excavation unit was laid out
around this artefact (cat. 300) to investigate whether
it related to any subsurface remains. The unit was
originally established as a 1 x 1 m unit but was expanded
to a 2 x 2 m unit upon the discovery of significant
artefacts, described below. The description
of the excavation here presents the unit as a 2 x 2 m
unit to avoid confusion. The northwest corner of the
unit was located at lat. 19.431027° lon. 103.152363°.
