Six features were found on the surface of 2:2; most
were circular and some with a line of different coloured
soil running off them. The features contained no artefacts and the soil in the main part
of the unit was sterile and becoming more ‘clayey.’
In extension 1B in the east baulk, the limestone
block was removed exposing evidence of human
interment in the form of bone fragments and human
teeth. This feature was labelled Burial 3. Artefacts found in this context included iron
fragments (cat. 47) and a carnelian bead (cat. 49).
