After removing spit 2:1 and the dense scatter of rocks
that comprised Feature 1 and the stones in Feature 2
no features were apparent on the surface of 2:2. The soil colour remained dark reddish brown. During the removal of 2:2 two limestone rocks were
uncovered near the centre of the unit and just to
the north of these a sandstone fragment. Two more
sandstone fragments were found in the northwest
corner. The only artefacts recovered was a fragment
of iron (cat. 102), a bomb fragment (cat. 118), near the western wall and some ceramic sherds (cat. 110).
