A 3m x 2m unit, the longer side running east-west, was laid out and included within it a sandstone boulder/ slab (1:1 Feature 3) in the southwest corner and an- other in middle of north baulk (1:1 Feature 2). Two smaller sandstone boulders (1:1 Feature 1) were visible at the surface closer to the west baulk.
The matrix in Unit 5 was found to be much harder than the previous units and there were many tree roots that needed to be removed. The soil colour at the surface was weak red (10R 4/4).
